How to adjust camber and caster. Caster is preset at the factory and should only be adjusted after all other possible sources have been inspected and corrected as necessary. Adjusting the camber angle on a vehicle affects the total toe. They’re added or subtracted to the upper or lower control arm. Caster and camber settings are set relative to the type of car and the design of the racetrack.

To increasing caster, you'll want to lean the king pin bolt backwards, and, as you guess, removing caster is leaning the king pin bolt forward. Just keep in mind that with the suspension at full drop, you’ll have roughly 2 degrees more positive camber than you’ll have on the ground. Keep your machine on the lift and make adjustments and measurements while it’s still in the air.

Check and adjust toe after adjusting the camber or caster angle. You can do this by using a couple of framing squares or a straight edge. You have to place the framing squares right next to the tyres and check from a distance.

However, some vehicles do have ways for you to adjust the caster angle. By loosening the strut rod nut and either pushing the strut inboard or pulling it outboard the camber can be adjusted by approximately 0.25 degree. Both the wheels should have a uniform alignment for a proper camber.

Once you have set the camber and caster, you can adjust the toe. A lot of people tend to believe that they have to have the best of the best in terms of equipment to win races, when in reality if you can master these proven. Chevy trucks do not usually need rear camber adjustment as the front camber adjustment does most of your work.

Camber and caster adjustment bolts are a possible option. Others use an eccentric bolt and cam that, when rotated, moves the top of the tire inward and outward, adjusting the camber angle. The cam style adjustment, while it is more convienent to the alignment tech, is not required to correct the camber or caster.

For people who don’t know, the camber bolt of the variety in the aftermarket will include a washer with a small handle. Check the camber specifications for your vehicle. Unlike camber where the king pin bolt moves side to side, changing caster revolves around moving the king pin bolt forward or backward.

As a bolt is turned, the strut arm is moved inward or outward for camber adjustments. Before measuring the camber, park the vehicle on a level surface. There are several methods to adjust camber, depending on the vehicle and its suspension.

You can do this by looking at the vehicle’s strut bolts. One common way to adjust caster is to install an offset caster bush. If your camber is off by a few degrees you have two options.

If you still want to adjust the rear camber, you can do it with the same process. Front camber is adjusted by moving the top of the strut and spring assembly. Step #3 check if the chevy truck has camber bolts.

The easiest way to measure how much camber your front end has is to use a framing square and measuring tape. Some vehicles have eccentric cams located on the upper control arm, and others are located lower. To adjust the caster and camber, refer to the following chart.
